## How to Use the WAEC Biology Syllabus to Prepare

### Download the Complete PDF

Save the syllabus somewhere you can access easily.

Use it throughout your preparation instead of looking at it only once.

### Divide the Syllabus Into Major Sections

A good study order is:

- Cells and Living Things
- Nutrition
- Transport
- Respiration and Excretion
- Coordination
- Reproduction
- Ecology
- Microorganisms and Health
- Conservation
- Variation and Genetics
- Evolution
- Nigeria-Specific Topics
- Practical Biology

This makes the syllabus easier to manage.

### Create a Topic Checklist

Mark each topic as:

- Not started
- Studying
- Completed
- Needs revision

Your goal should be to move every topic into the completed category before the examination.

### Draw Biology Diagrams Regularly

Do not wait until the examination is close.

Practise diagrams after studying the relevant topic.

For example, after studying the heart, draw and label it.

After studying reproduction, practise the reproductive systems.

After studying cells, draw plant and animal cells.

### Connect Structure With Function

Many Biology questions test the relationship between structure and function.

Whenever you study an organ or organism, ask:

- What does it look like?
- What are its parts?
- What does each part do?
- How is its structure suited to its function?

This method is particularly useful for:

- Cells
- Hearts
- Blood vessels
- Roots
- Leaves
- Respiratory organs
- Reproductive organs
- Sense organs

### Practise Biological Experiments

For every important experiment, understand:

- Aim
- Materials
- Procedure
- Observation
- Result
- Conclusion
- Precautions where necessary

Do not memorise the conclusion without understanding the experiment.

### Use WAEC Past Questions

After completing a topic, answer past questions from that area.

For example:

After studying Genetics, answer Genetics questions.

After studying Ecology, answer Ecology questions.

After studying Nutrition, practise food-test and digestion questions.

This helps you identify weak areas.
