As of **30 July 2026**, the official WAEC school-candidate e-registration page is still labelled for the 2026 examination. WAEC’s official news page also currently displays the 2026 WASSCE timetable without a notice announcing the opening of registration for 2027. Therefore, any exact 2027 registration date circulating online should be treated as unconfirmed until WAEC or your [school](/school-resumption-date-in-nigeria/) announces it. WAEC already has information concerning the subjects candidates will take in 2027, but this does not mean the registration portal has opened. The Council has not yet published a confirmed starting date or deadline for the 2027 exercise. Some secondary schools may begin collecting students’ names, checking subject combinations or asking parents to prepare for registration. That is usually an internal school arrangement and should not automatically be treated as the official opening of WAEC registration. Before making any payment, candidates should confirm that the information came directly from their school’s examination officer or another official WAEC channel. ## When Will 2027 WAEC Registration Start The exact date on which 2027 WAEC registration will begin has not been announced. WAEC states that it normally advertises examination entry periods and registration procedures. For WASSCE school candidates, the registration formalities are handled by the schools presenting the candidates. This means students should not depend only on dates posted on blogs, Facebook pages, WhatsApp groups or unofficial registration websites. Your school will inform you when it receives the official registration instructions. It would be misleading to publish a particular month or date as the official starting period before WAEC confirms it. ## Latest Update on WAEC 2027 Registration The latest accurate update is that the registration starting date is still being awaited. The official registration page currently available for school candidates is identified as the **2026 WASSCE for School Candidates’ e-Registration** platform. It has not yet been replaced with a publicly labelled 2027 registration page. Candidates preparing for the 2027 examination should therefore use this period to confirm their personal information and decide on the correct subjects rather than paying money to an unverified person promising early registration. **READ ALSO:** [WAEC Registration 2027 Form Fee Deadline and How to Register](/waec-registration-form-fee-deadline-guidelines/) ## Is the WAEC 2027 Registration Form Out The WAEC 2027 registration form for school candidates is not yet officially available. School candidates do not normally purchase and complete the form independently. Registration is carried out through the secondary school presenting them for the examination. When registration begins, your school will explain: - The amount to pay - The documents or information to submit - The approved subjects available - The school’s registration deadline - The procedure for confirming your details - Any photograph or biometric requirements Do not register through a random cybercafe or unofficial website simply because someone claims that the 2027 form is out. ## Who Can Register for WAEC 2027 The WASSCE for School Candidates is intended for students being presented by recognised secondary schools. WAEC explains that all entry formalities for school candidates are undertaken by the schools registering them. Private candidates follow a different process and register individually for the relevant private-candidate examination. A student preparing for the school-candidate examination should therefore speak with the principal, examination officer or another authorised member of staff. ## Can Students Register for WAEC 2027 by Themselves No. A school candidate should not register independently as though they were a private candidate. Your school is responsible for entering your details and subjects into the school-candidate registration system. WAEC’s official explanation states that school-candidate entry formalities are handled by the presenting schools. Your responsibility is to provide accurate information, select the correct subjects and check your registration details before they are finally submitted. Private candidates are different. They complete their own registration through the separate private-candidate process. ## How WAEC 2027 Registration Will Be Done WAEC registration for school candidates is completed online, but the process is managed by the school rather than individual students. Although WAEC may provide additional instructions for 2027, the process will generally involve the following stages: - Your school receives the official registration instructions. - The school informs eligible students and parents. - Candidates provide their correct personal information. - Each candidate selects the appropriate subjects. - The required registration payment is made through the school’s approved method. - Candidate information is entered into the WAEC registration system. - Photographs or biometric information are captured where required. - Candidates check their names, subjects and other details. - The school completes and submits the registration. The school will provide the final procedure once registration officially begins. ## What to Prepare Before WAEC 2027 Registration Starts You do not need to wait for the registration portal to open before preparing your information. Confirm the correct spelling and arrangement of your full name. You should also know your correct date of birth, gender and the subjects required for the course you hope to study after secondary school. Prepare the following: - Correct full name - Correct date of birth - Clear passport photograph if requested - Appropriate subject combination - Registration payment when announced - Any additional information requested by your school Do not provide a nickname, incomplete name or a different date of birth simply because it appears on another school document. Errors submitted during registration can later appear on your WAEC result and certificate. ## How Many Subjects Will Candidates Register WAEC requires WASSCE candidates to enter and sit for a minimum of eight subjects and a maximum of nine subjects. For candidates registering in 2027, English Language and General Mathematics will be the two available core subjects. Candidates will then select six or seven other subjects to complete the required total of eight or nine. WAEC has identified Citizenship and Heritage Studies and Digital Technologies as new core subjects, but the Council states that they will not be examined until 2028. Candidates sitting in 2027 will therefore not take them as part of the new core-subject arrangement. Your remaining subjects should be selected according to your class, intended course and admission requirements. ## WAEC 2027 Subject Combination Candidates should not select subjects simply because they appear easy. Your combination must include the subjects required for the course you intend to study. For example, a student planning to study a science or health-related course may need relevant subjects such as Biology, Chemistry and Physics. A student interested in an arts course may need subjects such as Literature in English, Government, History or Religious Studies, depending on the proposed course. Commercial and business students may require subjects such as Economics, Accounting, Commerce or Marketing. WAEC’s published 2027 entry regulations include subjects under science, humanities, business and trade categories. Confirm your proposed combination with your school and check the admission requirements for your intended course before the registration is submitted. ## How Much Is WAEC Registration 2027 The official WAEC registration fee for 2027 has not been announced. Candidates should not copy the fee charged in a previous year and assume that the amount will remain the same. WAEC may publish a new fee when the registration exercise begins. Your school should inform you of the amount to pay and explain any additional school-related charges. Ask for a receipt or another recognised proof of payment. Avoid sending money to individuals who claim they can register you before the official exercise begins. ## When Is WAEC 2027 Registration Closing The closing date for WAEC 2027 registration has not been announced. The official starting date, normal registration deadline and any possible late-registration period should be published as part of the registration instructions. Your school may set an internal deadline earlier than the final date given by WAEC. Schools need time to collect candidate details, correct mistakes and complete their submissions. You should therefore follow the date provided by your school rather than waiting for a deadline seen on another website. ## What Happens If You Miss the Registration Deadline A candidate who misses the school’s registration deadline may not be entered for the 2027 examination. Once registration begins, submit your information and payment early. Waiting until the final days can create problems if your details are incorrect or your school needs more time to complete the process. Do not assume that WAEC will extend the registration period. An extension should only be considered valid when officially announced. ## WAEC School Candidates and Private Candidates The WAEC school-candidate and private-candidate examinations have separate registration exercises. | School candidates | Private candidates | | ----------------- | ------------------ | | Registered through a secondary school | Register individually | | School handles the entry formalities | Candidate follows the private registration process | | Intended for students presented by schools | Intended for candidates registering independently | | Uses the school-candidate registration system | Uses a separate private-candidate platform | | School communicates the deadline | WAEC publishes the private registration period | WAEC conducts separate examination periods for school and private candidates, so the starting date for one registration exercise should not be used for the other. ## How to Know When WAEC 2027 Registration Starts The safest places to obtain the registration date are: - Your school principal or examination officer - WAEC’s official website and news section - The official school-candidate registration platform - An official notice issued to your school - A confirmed announcement from WAEC Nigeria Be careful with social media posts that contain a date but do not show where WAEC announced it. An old circular can also be edited and reposted with “2027” added to it. Always check the examination year and confirm the information with your school. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### When is WAEC 2027 registration starting?
