- Main event
- Sequence
- Important statements
- Outcome
- Moral lessons
- Present-day application

The syllabus states that the **Revised Standard Version** is used in setting questions.

## Important Biblical Characters to Study

**What lessons can be learned?**

## Moral Lessons You Should Be Able to Explain

The syllabus specifically expects candidates to understand biblical moral lessons and their relevance to present-day social, political, religious and cultural life.

## Present-Day Applications

Do not prepare only the historical part of each Bible passage.

You should also be able to apply biblical lessons to contemporary situations.

For example:

**Joseph’s leadership** can be related to responsible leadership today.

**Eli and his sons** can be related to parental responsibility.

**Ahab and Naboth** can be related to greed, injustice and abuse of power.

**Amos** can be related to corruption and social injustice.

Keep your application relevant to the specific biblical lesson.

**READ ALSO:** [WAEC Igbo Areas of Concentration 2027/2028](/waec-igbo-areas-of-concentration/)

Make sure you have covered every prescribed theme and Bible passage.

### Read the Bible Passages Directly

Do not prepare from summaries alone.

Read the actual passages so that you understand the events in context.

### Create Notes by Theme

For every topic, prepare notes using this pattern:

**Theme → Passage → Characters → Events → Lessons → Application**

This makes revision much easier.

### Practise Narrating Events

Choose an important passage and try to narrate it without looking at your notes.

Then return to the Bible and check what you omitted or arranged incorrectly.

### Practise Essay Questions

After studying each theme, answer related WAEC past questions.

For example:

After Joseph → answer leadership questions.

After Elijah → answer questions on the supremacy of God.

After Forgiveness → answer questions based on Jesus’ teaching.

After James → answer questions on Faith and Works.

This helps you understand how the same theme may be examined from different angles.
